HEAR FROM AN EMPLOYEE

“As a third-generation employee for the last 37 years, I am the product of the very first Machine Apprenticeship program which through various projects, has challenged my abilities and in return made me an even better person for it. Please come tour our facility and you’ll see why we love what we do and why Steward Machine is the place to work!”

— Glenn Hawkins, Employed at Steward Machine Since 1987

WORK AT STEWARD MACHINE

Understanding the significance of passing down professional knowledge across generations, we developed a four-year Apprentice Program. This program helped ensure the previous generations’ expertise was shared with the future of Steward Machine’s workforce. The success of this program is evident by the fourth and fifth-generational tradespeople Steward proudly employs today! We accept both internal and external applicants, as long as the minimum requirements are met.

External Applicants Requirements

One year machine shop experience and/or 400 hours machinist trade school

Internal Applicants Requirements

1,000 hours worked in machine shop

STORIES

AT STEWARD MACHINE

Aaron Griffin

Senior Mechanical Engineer

I recently joined Steward Machine Company as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, and I can’t speak highly enough of the interview and onboarding process. Talent Acquisition Specialist Tarah Reece guided me through every phase while handling the scheduling and travel logistics so smoothly that all I had to focus on was putting my best foot forward. Once we finalized the offer, Tarah remained an invaluable resource. She provided tailored relocation advice, introduced us to trusted real-estate contacts in Birmingham, and even helped line up a reputable moving company—all of which turned an interstate move that could have been stressful into a well-organized checklist.

Since arriving, I’ve received the same level of support from my new colleagues and leadership team. The onboarding schedule was clearly structured, IT was ready on day one, and I was paired with a mentor who has already helped me dive into moveable bridge projects. From relocation reimbursement to a welcome lunch with the engineering department, Steward Machine has demonstrated that they invest in their people long before the first punch of the time clock. If you’re considering a role here, know that you’ll be joining a team that values preparation, communicates clearly, and makes you feel like part of the company from day one.
